Stroke Recovery Care in Colorado Springs
Stroke is now the leading cause of adult disability in the US.
Stroke is now the leading cause of adult disability in the United States, which comes with an unpredictable host of both short-term and long-term effects. Some of the more common effects of stroke include fatigue, motor impairments leading to increased fall risk, swallowing difficulty, cognitive impairments, depression, as well as increased or uncharacteristic anger and aggression. Through recognizing these and other effects, our care team can promote independence and dignity for the individual as they go throughout their day. Our staff partners with your medical providers for coordination of care. We are able to monitor symptoms and various vital signs and communicate with the provider as needed.
Navigating the symptoms and providing individualized support is our passion. With input from the client, family, and medical team, we build a custom care plan focused around the specific and changing needs of the individual. Enlisting the help of certified stroke-care staff is paramount, as one stroke occurs every 40 seconds in the United States, with nearly 25% of these occurring in people who have been previously affected. Our specifically trained staff are versed not only in post-stroke care methods, but in recognizing signs and symptoms of a stroke as it occurs, enabling a rapid response as necessary.
As always, Gentle Shepherd is focused on enriching the well-being of the whole home; extending beyond the client, to deliver respite, relief, resources, and education to the family and support team.
