Our Home Care Team

I feel a love, passion and dedication for Seniors and their families and have a strong desire to help them find qualified and loving care for their elderly or chronically ill family members. I have been extremely blessed as I absolutely love what I am doing now and so grateful I made the heartfelt and strategic decision to fulfill my “purpose” and open Gentle Shepherd Home Care.

Kathy Miller |  Owner & CEO

As the passionate Founder and CEO of Gentle Shepherd Home Care, LLC a Home Care (non-medical) business which serves seniors and the chronically ill in Colorado Springs and surrounding areas. I founded Gentle Shepherd Home Care in 2016 because I am “that family” with elderly parents and in-laws. Like many families, my search to find qualified, compassionate, and qualified caregivers for my loved ones proved to be a huge challenge. I feel a love, passion and dedication for Seniors and their families and have a strong desire to help them find qualified and loving care for their elderly or chronically ill family members. Based on my 32- year experience as an Executive leader within the Staffing Industry I was confident I could provide compassionate, passionate, and highly qualified caregivers to assist families just like mine with care for their loved ones. My “Mee Maw” lived to be 97 years old and was the inspiration for starting Gentle Shepherd Home Care. In 2016, I made the heartfelt and strategic decision to fulfill my “purpose” and opened Gentle Shepherd Home Care. I have been extremely blessed as I absolutely love what I am doing. Gentle Shepherd has won “Best of the Springs” four years in a row including 2021. We also won a National Award as “Employer of Choice” by Home Care Pulse.

Throughout my career, I have served in many leadership roles and been an innovative organizational leader with expertise in transforming and building results driven teams.

I began my career as a graduate of Southern Methodist University with a BBA degree in Accounting/Finance. After earning my degree, I worked in the Banking/Mortgage Industry as CPA for the first twelve years of my career. From there I moved to Sales and Marketing within the staffing industry and finished my corporate career as a Vice President with Adecco, a Global Fortune 500 Staffing company.

I have served on various boards and most recently as President of the Board for the Senior Resource Council a prominent non-profit in Colorado Springs which serves the senior industry. Most recently was asked to join the University of Colorado Advisory Board for the Leeds School of Business.  Additionally, served our community through extensive involvement in the Alzheimer’s Association and Go Red for Women (American Heart Association).

Scott Miller |  Owner & President

Scott is a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. After serving in the Air Force, he worked for Hewlett Packard for 31 years in the IT industry.  The most interesting time of Scott’s time with HP is his 3 years’ working at the C.I.A. in Washington D.C.  Scott also holds a Bachelors of Science degree.

Scott and Kathy started Gentle Shepherd Home Care in 2016, which also began Scott’s career in Senior Care.  They wanted to do something more to help our community by bringing compassion, support, and value to those individuals that need care to stay in their own homes.  As the owner, Scott may be a little biased, but he and Kathy strive (and succeed) to make their company more welcoming and open to all employees that work for us.  They treat everyone with dignity and respect, creating a more open environment where all employees feel empowered.

When Scott is not in the office, he loves to build anything out of wood.  He built a 48’x48′ horse barn from scratch, without any drawings or plans, to house the family horses.  Scott also enjoys hiking, camping and anything else outdoors.

I really love helping seniors, and their families, figure out how to get care for a loved one in need.  Although we may all think we know what to do, and how to do it, we are all not necessarily equipped to provide the enhanced care that our elderly community need.

While caring for my mom, I realized the need for quality Caregivers for the senior population. I love helping those in a time of need and making sure our seniors are cared for the way I would care for my own family.

Libby Fariss |  Director of Case Management

Libby has been working in the Senior Care Industry for over 14 years and joined Gentle Shepherd Home Care in 2020.  Libby previously worked in the Dental and Vision industries before caring for seniors as a Certified Nursing Assistant, Caregiver and the Director of Case Management at Gentle Shepherd Home Care.

While Libby was still focused on her career in dentistry, she started helping a senior lady in her community, who then referred another senior for care as well.  Eventually, Libby left the dental industry when her mom was diagnosed with Breast Cancer.  She provided full time care for her mom until she passed away.

Libby enjoys working at Gentle Shepherd Home Care because everyone is very family oriented and work together as a team.  When she is not working, Libby loves spending time with her husband and kids, cooking, baking and playing BINGO!

Kayla Lepore |  Director of Care Coordination & Customer Service

Kayla started her career in senior care and with Gentle Shepherd Home Care in 2020.  Her experience seeing how difficult it was for her own family to watch the end of life process when her grandma died of cancer encourage Kayla to pursue a degree in the health care industry.  Kayla graduated from Pima Medical Institute as a medical administrative assistant.

Kayla enjoys working at Gentle Shepherd Home Care because they always provide opportunities for personal and professional growth.  The office environment is positive and supportive even during stressful times.

Outside of the office, Kayla enjoys skiing and hanging out with friends.

I love being able to help relieve the families and our clients during the difficult time of end of life. I love being able to put together a great care team for our clients.

“I have a passion for working with the aging population and providing services to make all transitions through life as easy as possible. I love connecting with my clients and their families. To be able to successfully help them in their time of need is the most fulfilling feeling.”
