Dementia Care in Colorado Springs
Dementia care is about safety, support, and specialization.
Dementia and Alzheimer’s disease are not a typical part of aging and can affect the individual in many matters of the mind. Caring for a loved one with dementia can be extremely taxing, and it has been shown that these family caregivers are at a greater risk for anxiety, depression, and decreased quality of life as compared to family caregivers of other health-affected individuals. Gentle Shepherd is here to support the family unit as whole, taking pride in our certified dementia care trained staff and vast knowledge of community resources available to family members.
Dementia care is about safety, support, and specialization. It is our priority above all to keep these individuals safe in the environment they call home, whether that be a family home, apartment, senior living community, etc. The support we provide is unique and specialized to each person and their evolving care needs as their condition changes. Our care staff are trained to meet the client where they are mentally and to learn their life story, so they can recognize potential warning signs for behaviors. As a Teepa Snow certified company, our staff easily adapt their interactions to meet the situation and reduce behaviors caused by increased confusion.
As always, Gentle Shepherd is focused on enriching the well-being of the whole home; extending beyond the client, to deliver respite, relief, resources, and education to the family and support team.
